The Aviation Club was founded at the beginning of 1990, with the express aim of providing
“… a forum for discussions on, and to promote
the interests of, all aspects of civil aviation.”
Membership of the Club is on an individual basis only, and is open to those having a professional interest in the advancement and development of the civil aviation industry.
Membership currently stands at approximately 600 people, with members drawn from all sectors of the civil aviation community, including airlines, manufacturers, finance houses, the legal profession, infrastructure providers, the press, regulators, government departments and consultancies.
The Club operates on a non-profit making basis; there is an annual membership fee of £75 plus VAT, and lunches are paid by those attending. The Club is assisted in maintaining an appropriate standard of service to the members, quality of venue and attractive luncheon prices through the generosity of some major companies: Airbus, AJW Aviation, BAA Ltd, British Airways Plc, Boeing, CASCO, CFM International, Civil Aviation Authority, Focus Aviation Ltd, NATS, Rolls-Royce plc and Willis Lease Finance Corporation.
The principal activity of the Club is the organisation of regular luncheons, held at a venue in Central London. At each luncheon (which is preceded by a reception), members and their guests are addressed by a speaker on a topic of interest to the Club, after which the floor is opened to questions to the speaker.
Since its beginning the Club has organised 150 such luncheons: a list of speakers who have addressed the Club is shown under Speakers. Secretariat services to the Club are provided by Naomi King, to whom enquiries regarding membership or other matters should be addressed.
